DAIRY FARM
Delivering temporary power solutions to operate four fully-automated milking pods.

Stuart Power is supporting a dairy farm in Cumbria with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) to reliably power its four fully-automated milking pods.

THE OBJECTIVE
Our client was hand-milking 300 dairy cows per day. They contacted us to provide temporary power to their new automatic milking pods, while they wait to be connected to the mains.

With the introduction of this modern automated system (milking pods), the farm expects to increase yield from around 10,000* litres of milk per cow per year to as much as 15,000 litres.

THE SOLUTION
Our experts recommended the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) to the client, after identifying it as the most efficient and sustainable way to support their automated milking operations. We supplied the BESS to power four automated milking pods, enabling true 24/7 operation while intelligently shutting down during low-demand periods to conserve energy. The powered milking pods scan each cow’s unique barcode, dispense the correct amount of feed, and complete the milking process efficiently, delivering reliable performance alongside meaningful energy savings.

The BESS operates quietly, produces significantly fewer emissions, reduces fuel consumption, and offers a far more cost-effective alternative to a traditional diesel generator.

Each cow is trained to use the milking pods independently, reducing the need for farmers to be on site and allowing the herd to be managed more efficiently.
